NPR : Morning Edition for Thursday, March 18, 2004: “‘Morning Edition’ Returns: Darwin Banned, Gays Next?

Commissioners in Rhea County, Tenn., vote 8-0 to request that state law be amended so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature. The commissioner who introduced the measure also wants to ban gays from living in the county. In 1925, John Scopes was convicted of teaching evolution in Rhea County. “
